XO, The Vow’s Family
Your wedding is still possible!
We know there are a lot of factors to consider when making changes to your dream wedding, but you can still say “I do” in quarantine and celebrate with the ones you love! The guest list can be especially tricky during these times. Consider shortening your guest list and be sure to follow state mandated group gathering sizes (depending on where you live). With your smaller group, your venue options increase. You can opt for an at home wedding held outside, a virtual wedding so everyone can be a part of the day, customized masks, and many other fun options to make the most memorable wedding day for you and your partner!
First thing is first, how should you go about telling your guests that you are changing the date?
Consult your VIPS by talking to your families and wedding parties. You can all work together to hopefully find a date that works for everyone involved. Of course, you’ll want them all to be there, but know that a change in date could also bring with it a change in your lineup.
Once the date is decided on (or at the very least TBD) inform all of your guests via email, printed announcements and definitely update your website! This announcement does not need to be another formal invitation. The wording you use should depend on your style, the situation, and the message you want to send. However, no matter what you say, experts recommend that the announcement should match the look and feel of your original save-the-date or invite!
Talk with your vendors!
If you’ve already signed contracts with wedding vendors, keep communication lines open early and broach the topic of rescheduling and making changes. Speak with your photographers, caterers, and others to talk through all options, first to make sure they are still available for your new wedding date and to make sure you are all on the same page for when your big day arrives. A lot of brides are having to reschedule so their availability will be changing rapidly. As soon as you have your date make it a top priority to get on their schedules!
If you are waiting on (or Shopping for) a Dress
Order Ahead: If you’re looking to order a bridal gown and/or bridesmaid dresses from a traditional salon or retailer, experts suggest doubling the lead time on purchasing gowns. If the average recommended lead time is 6 to 9 months prior to the wedding, consider doing so between 12 and 18 months ahead of time. VOWS is of course open for appointments but we are also offering brides an @Home experience or the ability to purchase online. Call or email our staff with any questions you may have during the process – click here to start browsing our gowns!
