How to Prepare for Your Wedding Dress Appointment: Five tips

It’s happening! You’ve made your wedding dress appointment and it’s finally time to try on what could be your dream gown! But how do you prepare? It’s simple, really, and we are here to help. Forget your fears and get ready to have a blast. Below are some tips to keep in mind, along with some ideas of what to bring to make the most of this joyous day!

1. Bring Your Undergarments

Bring a strapless bra with you to your appointment. Strapless bras can be worn with the majority of wedding dress designs, unless you are going for a backless dress or plunging v-neck that shows most of your chest, in that case, look into a multi-way bra (which also works with most any gown) or adhesive cups to get the feel of how it will look. After you have chosen your gown, a consultant can advise you on exactly which style of bra to purchase. Some wedding dresses have built-in bra and may not even require anything at all, but don’t take that chance.

2. Bring Photos

If you have a certain dress or look in mind, be sure and bring a photo with you. Any kind of photo will be super helpful–whether it be screen shots, saved photos or magazine pics. In fact, bring as many as you want. The consultant will have a good starting point and can help you narrow down your choices with their expert advice.

3. Bring your bridal shoes

If you are lucky enough to have already found your perfect pair of bridal shoes, make sure you bring them with while dress shopping. If not, maybe you know what size heel or lack of heel you are comfortable wearing. Either will work. That way, when you find your gown, It will give you an idea of how much the dress will need to be altered in length. It is also a good way to see how your overall look will come together.

4. Know your budget

Make no mistake that your bridal consultant wants to help you find your perfect dress. And to do that, a budget should be set in place. This will help narrow down your search and avoid wasting time trying on gowns that are way out of your price range. You must trust your stylist to be working in your best interest. We are here to find the perfect gown for you–that is our #1 priority!

5. Bring an Open Mind

When it comes to bridal gowns, there are so many gorgeous options. Don’t discount a dress just by the way it looks on the hanger. Trust the consultants’ eye and consider trying on styles you may not have considered before.  Many stereotypes have discouraged women with a particular body shape to try on certain silhouettes. Today’s designers are very crafty in how they design their gowns to flatter all figures.
