The proposal
While on a weekend trip to Ithaca, NY, Abbey and Jayme were having a blast doing one of their favorite things. Abbey says, “Jayme proposed in a photo booth as we were taking the picture,” Abbey says. “Photo booths are our favorite thing, and actually cover our entire fridge, so it was perfect! The photo itself is in one frame, a smiling couple… the next is my ‘jaw-on-floor-gasp-face’ as he popped the question. It’s quite hilarious!” [/one_half]

The venue
Abbey and Jayme wanted a venue that reflected their personalities. They chose a lovely private estate on a secluded mountain top near their beautiful hometown for the ceremony and reception. “Our colors ended up being dictated by the dress,” Abbey adds. “We decided on blush, copper and gold metallic, and black.”

The dress… how she Found the Gown… online!
Abbey’s story is rather different from most of our featured brides. She found her dream gown without ever actually trying it on!
“I saw my dream dress the first time I was casually browsing through the VOWS site,” Abbey says. “I put it off since my wedding was so far away. However, I kept the link and checked back periodically when looking for ideas on what I wanted. But, I kept going back to this dress! Nothing ever compared to it. When I knew it was time, I clicked the link only to be destroyed to find out it was sold out. I put it aside as fate and scheduled appointments at Philadelphia salons. No luck. A few weeks later, I checked back on a whim—it was back in stock! It was a super simple process to order, and the gown arrived nicely packaged as well. My dress was in my hands within days, and I had it altered to fit me perfectly.”
Abbey goes onto say, “The dress is by Marchesa. It’s a floral-inspired ball gown with ivory and blush-toned accents. I wanted something that was grand in design, elegant, and a bit edgy. I loved that it was a spectacular example of how (as a fashion enthusiast) the designers always create something classic yet unique with the most amazing fabrics. It was the perfect gown for me. Thank you so much to VOWS and your staff, and also to my lucky charm, whatever or whomever it was (thanks, Gram)!”
A big thank you to Abbey and Jayme for sharing their story and amazing photos. Here’s to a lifetime of love, laughter, and style. Congratulations from all of us at VOWS!
