Fall weddings have become wildly trendy over the past five years. They actually give spring and summer a run for their money. Brides and grooms choose this time of year for many reasons. But, always keep in mind that there are pros and cons to each wedding season, and they must be kept in mind when nailing down that date. Fall weddings are no exception. Below is a list of things to keep in mind!
PROS
Stunning color schemes and decor: The gorgeous colors that make a fall wedding what it is happens to be one of the main reasons couples choose this time of year. Rich colors such as multiples shades of oranges, greens, golds, bronzes, browns, even deep purples, and even black makes for such an absolutely exquisite look. Of course pumpkins are used in a variety of ways as centerpieces and overall décor. Think haystacks, falling leaves, and subtle lighting. Rustic branches also scream fall and can be just lovely incorporated into the designs.
Climate: Fall weather is among the most beautiful of all seasons. If you live in the right area, the temperature can be perfect for an outdoor or indoor wedding—or a combination of both. Think an outdoor ceremony with an indoor reception. There may be crispness in the air, but that is what makes a fall wedding so special and inviting. Also, there doesn’t tend to be as much rain as opposed to spring or summer.
Venue choices: The possibilities are endless. The only thing off limits would be a beach wedding if you live in a cooler part of the country. Lots of brides love rustic barn weddings for fall weddings, outdoor weddings surrounded by tons of trees that have started to change their color. Get creative!
Wedding gown selection: Like wedding gowns with sleeves? No problem! Like sleeveless? No problem! Just add a shawl if need be. The choices are wide open for any type of dress design.
CONS
Climate: Depending on where you live, the fall may be a bit cold. So think about having your big day earlier if this is the case—perhaps late September or early October. For example, the eastern part of the country does not lend itself as well to outdoor affairs because it does get rather chilly at night.
Guest availability: Fall is a time of year that may be difficult for out of town guests. They may have already used vacation time in the summer and need to travel for the holidays. Keep this in mind as you make your decision.
