Picture this: a gorgeous winter day with glistening snowflakes falling, stunning white-capped mountains, your guests sipping hot cocoa by a roaring fireplace. There is no doubt that it is a magical time of year and a spectacular backdrop for a wedding. But, especially for us living in New England, we know it can be just plain cold! So, how do you make your winter wedding dreams come true and still stay toasty doing so?
Below are some ideas on how to keep yourself (and your squad) stylishly warm and picture perfect on your winter wedding day!
Long sleeve wedding dress
Of course this is a given, and just for the bride, of course. We love a long sleeve gown and winter weddings are the perfect time to rock one. You can go for elegant full coverage sleeves, sleeves loaded with lace and embroidery or somewhere in between. Best of all, so many of these styles now have detachable sleeves, so you have the option of two looks in one!
Shawls, Wraps and Jackets
Not into long sleeve gowns? No problem! No matter the style of the wedding gown, think about adding a winter-style wrap, shawl or even a jacket throughout parts of the day (especially when you’re outside!). They are available in super chic colors and fabrics to compliment your gown and your personality. Faux fur and cable knits are popular choices, they look fabulous, photograph well and are super warm! (Your bridesmaids may appreciate one of these as well!)
Blankets or throws
Looking for something for you and your partner? Blankets or throws are just adorable and make for such great photo opps! Pick any style you want. Let your personality shine! (Also good for bridesmaids!)
Gloves and mittens
You can’t get anymore practical than good ol’ gloves and mittens! If you plan on staying outside for an extended period of time, one of these should be a must. Good news is, they are oh-so cute and you can pick and choose colors to go with your unique look. They also make a wonderful bridesmaid gift! Need more warmth? Add a cozy scarf!
Winter muff
For a fun vintage vibe, be your own snow queen with a classic bridal muff. They are usually made of faux fur and are padded and fully lined for maximum hand warmth. You can keep the looks classic white or go with a fun pop of color or a sparkly brooch.
