How to be the Best Maid of Honor Ever! Top Five Duties

Being chosen by the bride to be her Maid of Honor is, well… an honor! With this awesome position comes some major duties and responsibilities. In a nutshell, you need to be THE person for the bride. You will become her go-to gal for all the wedding day may bring. It is not a title to be taken lightly, after all, there is much to be done! Below is a list of the top five MOH duties to keep in mind to rock this role!

1. Wedding Gown Shopping

Gown shopping can be so exciting, and it can also be a bit overwhelming, especially for the bride. This is where you come in. The MOH will need to go with the bride to her wedding dress appointments and help choose THE ONE. Be honest, but don’t be overly critical. After all, the two of you may have different tastes, but always remember that it is HER dress, not yours. Also, remember that it may take some time and more than a few trips to salons and seamstresses. So be patient. And, in the end, you will have had a hand in helping the bride look perfect on her big day, and there might even be some champagne in it for you!

2. Pre-wedding events!

The MOH will take the lead in planning the events such as the bridal shower and bachelorette party. This takes lots of organizational skills and time, but can also be really fun! Don’t be afraid to ask the other bridesmaids for their opinions, and especially for their help. The more hands on deck the better, but make sure you stay in charge to ensure everything goes as smoothly as possible.

3. Be the bride’s go-to gal!

On the wedding day, it is your soul duty to stay with the bride as much as possible. She will need help with her wedding gown, bridal accessories, make-up touch ups, and making sure the other bridesmaids are ready to step out! Be on your game and do as much as you can to take some of the wedding day stress of the bride.

4. Toast the happy couple!

You’re up! More than likely, the maid of honor will be asked to make a toast at the reception. This is your time to let your gal and her partner know just how much they mean to you. Keep it heartfelt and personal. You can even throw some humor in there! And, if you start to get anxious about this pretty big responsibility, just remember that the bride chose YOU. She trusts you to do it. You got this.

5. Be her emotional rock!

On the wedding day, it is your soul duty to stay with the bride as much as possible. She will need help with her wedding gown, bridal accessories, make-up touch ups, and more! You MOH will also need to ensure the other bridesmaids are ready to step out! Be on your game and do as much as you can to take some of the wedding day stress off the bride.
