Choose a Dress That Moves
The dress may be beautiful—and you in it—but if you can’t move in it and enjoy yourself on your big day, what’s the point?
VOWS Bridal Consultant Barbara St. Jean often says to brides-to-be, “You want to wear whatever is going to make you feel your absolute best.” While this is true, she also knows how important it is to be comfortable. She recommends that brides choose a wedding gown that is going to allow them to move freely through the room. Brides want to be able to dance and celebrate. As Barbara explains, “It’s beautiful when the fabric floats along with the bride…it moves with her and does not hold her back. Silk is one of the best fabrics for movement. It is lightweight, airy, and breathable. Shimmering beadwork is so dreamy. Little hints of twinkle add a touch of whimsical detailing as you twist and turn. It’s beautiful to see a bride twirling the night away in a dress she feels great and comfortable in!”[/one_half_last]

Barbara’s Picks for Showing Off Your Best Dance Moves
Jenny Packham Dixie
Dixie from Jenny Packham’s 2017 collection is dreamy Aline. Intricate white and glass beading cascade through the structured bodice and flowing English net skirt. English net is such a wonderful fabric for movement. It’s as sheer as tulle but has a more weight to hold it’s form. The glass beadwork will be sure to capture every candle light while dancing the night away!
Monique Lhuillier Destiny
This gorgeous trumpet is sure to dazzle your guests! Destiny by Monique Lhuillier is made of Chantilly lace, glass, pearl, and crystal beading. The silk tulle is so airy, which makes the gown feel as light as a feather. The curve showing trumpet emphases your feminine side yet comfortable enough to dance and move throughout the night. The delicate beading lightly shimmers with all lighting.
Alvina Valenta Full Skirt
This whimsical beauty is for the bride who wants to look great as she works the room. Horsehair is another great fabric for movement. It is often used on the hemline to give more “flounce”. It adds a little weight to the edges which allow the layers to bounce back in place after you show off your best dance moves.
