Before selecting your wedding photographer ask for references, to view their portfolio, and at the very least, Google search them!
Hiring a photographer for your wedding comes with many things to consider. Below is a list of questions and tips to help get you started!

Do I need a wedding planner?

How is their personality? Try and get to know your photographer. The person you choose to capture moments of your big day is so very important. You want to actually like the person. If they see, uptight or someone that might add stress to the day, move on! And if you do get a good feeling, do not let them be strangers. Becoming friendly with your photographer is a sure fire way to end up with awesome wedding photos!

How much experience do they have? All good photographers will have a resume. You want to find one that has some experience in the type of wedding you are having. And don’t forget, photographer tend to become more experienced the long they are in the field. Don’t be afraid to ask questions about previous weddings they worked and get a feel for them from their answers. Also, it is also a good idea to hire a full-time photographer. You want to hire someone who has been doing this for years and shows confidence in their work.

Why is there photographic style? Obviously, they should have experience working past weddings, so all photographers should have a portfolio of previous work for you to see. This is where they feature their best work. It will show you the type of photos they take and what angles and lighting they are most fond of. This will give you a huge idea of whether or not they are your style. Maybe you are looking for someone who specializes in black and white? Take a look through their work and if they highlight that you are good. If they don’t, ask them why. If you want them to capture a certain style, they should be open to it and add it to their plan.

Do they have a list of references to contact? This is so very important. Ask for a list of weddings in which they worked and call the bride and groom. They will give you an excellent indication of how this person works. Also, talk to anyone you know that has used this particular photographer. Furthermore, lots of reviews can be found on the internet… simply type their name into a search engine and there you go!
